Daniel J. Tepper, MD is a board certified ophthalmologist and practices comprehensive ophthalmology with a focus
on advanced cataract surgery and the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. He received his undergraduate and
master’s degrees in the biological sciences at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Dr. Tepper went on to
complete his medical training in 1991 at Tulane Medical School in New Orleans where he graduated with honors
and was recognized for his clinical research in ophthalmology. After completing his ophthalmology residency at
Tulane, he was invited to join the school’s medical staff where he taught surgical skills
to the the ophthalmology residents . In 1997, he returned to practice in his hometown of Chicago.
Dr. Tepper is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and an adjunct clinical professor at the
University of Illinois. He is also an active board member of the Blind Service Association. His society memberships
include the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Illinois Association of
Ophthalmology and the Chicago Ophthalmological Society. In October 1999, Dr. Tepper joined a group of
doctors who conduct medical missions throughout the world. He has provided charitable surgery to people in the
Philippines and Panama.
Dr. Tepper, who is proficient in Spanish, has been practicing ophthalmology since 1993 and is on staff at multiple
Chicago area hospitals. Since his teenage years, Dr. Tepper has been an avid proponent of utilizing proper nutrition
and fitness in the prevention of disease and he frequently integrates nutritional information into the care of his
patients. In 2009 he received nutritional certification from the prestigious Columbia Teachers College in New
