Ik Hee Ryu, MD is an ophthalmologist specialized in the refractive surgery since 2006. He graduated from

Yonsei University college of medicine and earned a master degree from Yonsei University graduate school of

medicine also. He started his residency in ophthalmology at KangNam Severance Hospital and became a

certified ophthalmologist in 2006.

After serving 3 years of military service as an ophthalmologist, he joins the B&VIIT Eye Center as a refractive

surgeon. B&VIIT Eye Center is one of the largest refractive centers in Korea where over 12,000 patients receive

their refractive surgery per year. He now has an 11-years of experience in refractive surgery with 25,000+ PRK,

LASIK, femto-LASIK, SMILE with Wavelight Allegretto, EX500, Carl-Zeiss Mel-80/VISUMax, and

SCHWIND Amaris 500/750/1050, over 3000 cases of phakic IOL implantation including Artisan, Artiflex,

VISIAN ICL. He is now a consultant/medical advisory board member of Avellino Lab U.S. where gene

detection for preventing blindness after the refractive surgery is provided.

He is a member of the Korean Ophthalmologists Association, the Korean Ophthalmological Society, the

Korean Society of cataract and refractive surgery. He was a former trustee of director(2016~2017) of the Korean

Ophthalmologists Association and currently a representative for the Korean Ophthalmological Society. As an

international member of AAO, ASCRS, ESCRS, APAO, and APACRS, he frequently attends the meeting

abroad to share his experiences. Frequently, he gives lectures to fellow ophthalmologists and junior doctors as

being an invited lecturer for numerous industrial company related to the refractive surgery.

Dr. Ryu and his wife, Helen, now have a lovely daughter Jane, and two energetic boys, Jayden and Jason who

enjoy all kinds of sports including soccer, skiing, ice hockey, and skateboard.
