As a consultant ophthalmologist, Ramy Riad, MD, PhD sees and treats patients with different ophthalmologic

disorders. Beyond prescribing medicines and performing surgeries, Dr. Ramy aims to provide the best care for

his patients and build a long term relationship with them. Dr. Ramy’s main clinical interests focus on cataract

and its treatment, correction of errors of refraction, LASIK eye surgery and corneal diseases and transplantation,

among others.

Dr. Ramy Riad is a qualified professional and was granted the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons

(FRCS) in Ophthalmology, bestowed by Royal College of Surgeons in the United Kingdom. He received his

Doctorate Degree (MD) as well as his Master’s Degree of Ophthalmology from Cairo University. Dr. Ramy is a

member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the European Society of Cataract and

Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Ramy has extensive international experience in Ophthalmology, especially in the United States and the

United Kingdom. He received training in Guy’s and St. Thomas’ School of Medicine (St. Thomas’ Hospital) in

UK under Professor Miles Stanford and Dr. Elizabeth Graham. Dr. Ramy also trained at Louisiana State

University Eye Center in the USA, under Dr. Michael Insler, who is a professor of Ophthalmology at Louisiana

State University and a guest lecturer on LASIK both nationally and internationally, as well as by Professor

Herbert E. Kaufman, whose research interests address mainly refractive surgery and corneal transplantation. Dr.

Ramy completed his basic training in Ophthalmology at Cairo University Hospital, where he continues to be a

teaching faculty member as a Lecturer at the Ophthalmology Department.

Dr. Ramy strives to remain up to date with the latest advances in Ophthalmology. He utilizes the safest and

most advanced technologies such as FemtoLASIK, implantable lenses (Phakic IOLs) and Femto-Keratoplasty

(corneal transplantation), among others. In addition, the patients’ records are managed using the latest healthcare

software known as electronic medical records (EMR), which stores the patient’s information electronically

making it available to the doctor at any given time and across different locations.

Dr. Ramy is married and has 2 young children. He is a connoisseur of the arts and is a fluent speaker of Arabic,

English and French
