Leslie Emmert-Buck, MD, PhD, is a board certified ophthalmologist and cornea specialist in Michigan. The

mission of her practice is to provide patients with the best corrected visual acuity possible through cataract and

laser refractive surgery. She also enjoys treating dry eye patients.

Dr. Emmert-Buck completed a combined MD/PhD program at the University of Maryland School of Medicine

in Baltimore, MD, and the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. After finishing internship at Mercy

Medical Center in Baltimore, she completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland.

Subsequently, Dr. Emmert-Buck spent a year at Wills Eye Hospital for fellowship training in Cornea, External

Disease, and Refractive Surgery with Drs. Peter Laibson, Elisabeth Cohen, Chris Rapuano, and Kristin

Hammersmith.

Outside clinical responsibilities, Dr. Emmert-Buck has an early research interest in cornea neovascularization

and more efficient and personalized patient education. She is a member of the Refractive Surgery Alliance, the

American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and a fellow of the American Academy of

Ophthalmology.

Outside her professional career, Dr. Emmert-Buck enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.

She is an avid runner, completing the Baltimore marathon in 2013, and also enjoys reading, boating, and playing

the piano .
