PHYSICIAN CEO 2022 Participant Directory
Ricardo N. Sepulveda, MD is an Ophthalmologist practicing in San Antonio, TX since 2017. He grew up in
Monterrey, Mexico where he went to medical school and later moved to the US to complete his post-graduate
training. He holds a fellowship in Anterior Segment Diseases, Cornea and Refractive Surgery from Cole Eye
Institute at the Cleveland Clinic, and a Vitreo-retinal Surgery Fellowship from Charles A. Garcia, MD Retino-
Vascular Center in Houston, TX. He worked in Houston for almost 10 years before he moved to San Antonio.
In 2020, in the beginning of the pandemic, Dr. Sepulveda acquired Castle Hills Eye Specialists (CHES) from a
retiring ophthalmologist. Fast forward to 2022 and CHES has grown from three to ten employees, 100 surgeries
a year to more than 600, six figure revenue to seven figures, and the purchase of a larger office space. With more
growth, however, he has encountered more challenges in the realm of business. Dr. Sepulveda's motivation to
participate in the Physician CEO program was driven primarily by these challenges as a new practice owner and
his interest in learning more about focused practice growth, leadership and brand positioning.
Dr. Sepulveda is also co-founder of ORUS, a web-based Ophthalmology/Optometry focused EMR and Practice
Management application which is being designed to truly automate the patient's office visit. Among many
features, ORUS uses artificial intelligence to learn doctor's preferences freeing them from using a scribe,
responds to voice commands and uses block-chain technology to secure practice and patient's data.
Dr. Sepulveda is married and is the proud father of three lovely girls. In his free time he enjoys DJing, learning
music production, traveling, fishing and visiting the outdoors with his wife and children.
