Precious Phatudi is a general ophthalmologist with a keen interest in cataract, cornea and refractive surgery. She
heads the Ophthalmology unit at Sebokeng Hospital, a regional state hospital in the south of Johannesburg,
South Africa. She also does some private work at Soweto Eye, a practice she shares with her husband Philip,
who is a glaucoma specialist.
She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Pretoria and her graduate training in
Ophthalmology at the University of Free State where she obtained her MMED in Ophthalmology. She is also a
fellow of the College of Ophthalmologists of South Africa.
Dr Phatudi is part of a non- profit, independent organization called Hope for the Blind. This team is dedicated
to improving service delivery to the visually impaired and blind people of Limpopo.
She is passionate about making quality eye care services, accessible and affordable, especially to marginalized and
underserviced communities. She has in interest in cornea and refractive surgery and is determined to make these
services available to the community she serves.
Precious and Philip have three adventurous boys and their favourite thing to do is to travel together.
