PHYSICIAN CEO 2020 Participant Directory
First of all, I am father of two wonderful kids. Vally, 9 years old and Rico, 5 years old; I am married to my lovely Beta, we
have a Labrador named Gucci. I am the oldest son of a spectacular couple, they have always been my greatest examples of
life in every way. I studied in a traditional Catholic school, I always was a dedicated student until 1997, when I finish my
high school.
In the first half of 1993, at age 13, I faced my first big wave in a sea of discoveries, known as life. I was diagnosed as a
Diabetic Type 1 and I became dependent of daily applications of insulin and a sugar restricted diet for life, instead of
killing me as expected by all, I was initially very pleased to have lost 20 lb and have become more aesthetically presentable,
and then I began to invest in a healthier lifestyle.
In 1996 my family moved to Brasilia, because my father had a great job opportunity. Two years of experience in BrasÃlia
that made me grow and mature, meet new people and cultures, being a young city formed in 1970, composed of Brazilian
and foreign immigrants through countless embassies and connecting more with my family.
I returned to Rio de Janeiro after finishing my high school studies to apply for med school a course of 6 years. Not being
approved in the first tests I went to live with my grandparents, while my family stayed in BrasÃlia, I failed another year, but
I never lost the support of my parents. After much dedication and perseverance in the beginning of the year 2000, I
achieved one of my great achievements being approved for the medical course in a federal university.
During my last year in college I found ophthalmology, staying for 5 years in this journey of professional academic
formation. In those years I participated in a large mass service project in the poor communities of Rio de Janeiro, where I
did about 100 daily calls at the weekends and I was able to get to know very closely another reality of my State and
Municipality. Another great experience that I had opportunity was to work for the armed forces, more specifically in
aeronautics as a civil ophthalmologist.
In 2012 already with my first daughter I started my MBA in health management at FGV in order to acquire knowledge to
open my offices, which I started in the second half of 2012 with my current partner in Barra da Tijuca, a noble area of Rio
de Janeiro, and one second with another partner in Santa Cruz lower income neighborhood. In 2019 I finished my master
in management at ISCTE (Lisbon-Portugal).
I would greatly like to have the opportunity to improve my knowledge in Kellogg for the cultural diversity of the
participants and to be able to live immersed in an innovative place, for the possibility of being with different people to
consolidate myself as a citizen of the world and a businessman motivated to change the Brazilian health system, to a model
based on value for the patient, using my project of expansion of my ophthalmology clinics.
