Kasey Brown, DO was born and raised in Poteau, Oklahoma. She was introduced to medicine at an early age
and had many positive mentors throughout her life that helped her achieve her goal of being able to serve the
people of her home state.
After high school, Dr. Brown attended the University of Arkansas on an academic scholarship. During that time
that she explored different areas of medicine and one of her mentors introduced her to ophthalmology and she
fell in love with the field. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and continued to pursue her dream of becoming a
physician.
Dr. Brown attended Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated as a member of
Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Sigma Phi honor societies. During medical school, she participated in international
missions in Peru and Brazil. This experience taught her how impactful and life-changing eye surgery could be
and further propelled her desire to become an ophthalmologist. She completed her traditional internship and
residency at Oklahoma State University Medical Center. After having surgery herself during her residency, Dr.
Brown knew she wanted to specialize in refractive surgery and is now completing her fellowship at ClearSight

PCEO 2019
Arvind Cavale, MD, FACE is an Adult Clinical Endocrinologist, currently in his 20th year of practice in the Greater Philadelphia area. He
completed his medical education at Seth GS Medical College, University of Bombay in 1990, Residency in Internal Medicine from the Jamaica
Hospital Medical Center, NY in 1994 and Fellowship in Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism from Nassau County Medical Center, NY in
1999. In between his training stints, Dr. Cavale served as an Internist in a rural hospital in Lutcher, LA from 1994-1996 and as an Instructor in
Medicine in NYC from 1996-97. After being on a partnership track with a fairly large group in Philadelphia, he decided to open his solo practice
in 2002, which he merged with that of a colleague in January 2018, to create Diabetes & Endocrinology Consultants of PA. He was also actively
involved in clinical research since 2010, being a trial site for the Duke Clinical Research Institute and Worldwide Clinical Trials, participating in
some landmark trials such as EXSCEL, Harmony Outcomes and Camellia TIMI 61. In 2016, he, along with his physician colleague and two
Dieticians, co-founded The Endocrine & Metabolic Institute of Greater Philadelphia, LLC , now known as the Signature Diabetes Institute,
through which they developed bundled diabetes prevention and management programs.
Dr. Cavale has seen health care from all angles - patient, caregiver, physician and tax payer; and believes that the decades long crisis in the
American healthcare system is solvable by better use of the free enterprise system, reduced role of government mandates & middlemen, greater
education of the population in general, and appropriate allocation of healthcare dollars with transparency in pricing. His concept of moving the
discussion from a cost-cutting to a value-based purchasing, preceded the recent push in the healthcare industry. In addition, he is convinced that
employers need to be the first to move healthcare financing in the new direction, and that physicians must be ready to cooperatively offer ROI
for employers who wish to utilize their healthcare dollars effectively, and promote engagement by employees. Therefore a new type of leadership
is need in organized medicine that moves physicians away from dependence on government programs, and into actively managing the
economics of their clinical activities, in collaboration with colleagues and employers. This move will help reduce the rate of physician burnout
and restore the patient-physician relationship, while creating a new business model. He hopes that this change will eventually lead to a reform in
medical education and training, where new medical graduates will be comfortable with discussing the value of their services and setting
expectations.
Dr. Cavale has practiced with holistic philosophy for more than 22 years, which involves "reversing the senses", ironically even before reading
the book for the PCEO course. His business philosophy has been to encourage staff to be maximally involved in day-day operations, patient
interactions and to 'own" their position in the office. He owes his success to his wife of 25 years, Kanchan Cavale, who has been his front deck
operator, office manager, tax consultant, CFO, payroll manager, fixer, etc. for over 16 years. She now functions as Practice Administrator in
addition to her "mom" duties. His professional partner, Alan Schorr, DO, has been a friend and supporter, ever since he volunteered to cross-
cover in 2002. His Clinical Manager/Study Coordinator, Nancy Ward, has been instrumental in implementing his goals of integrating human
ingenuity and technology to deliver optimal care to his patients while operating the practice efficiently. Finally, his patients are the main reason
for his practice to have the reputation it has, not just locally but regionally. For this he is forever grateful. He is also grateful to the profession
and particularly to his specialty of Endocrinology, that has placed him in such a crucial position to positively affect so many fellow human
beings. Dr. Cavale hopes that the Physician CEO program will equip him to deliver on his mission for the
second half of his career.

Kevin Chan, DO, MS, FASA, is the family medicine physician at Pineapple Health / Rejenesis in Phoenix and has
been providing expert care for more than 20 years. He is an integrative and holistic physician who focuses on
total health and preventive care.
Dr. Chan has devoted the next phase of his medical career to providing comprehensive care for a smaller group
of patients, who want to achieve the best possible health through the next decades of their lives. There is good
scientific documentation that preventive medicine and attention to wellness can lead to longer, more active and
vigorous lives.
Dr. Chan integrates traditional cultural wisdom with modern medical science, creating a truly holistic approach
that focuses on diet, exercise, nutrition, and stress management. Together, with his patients, Dr. Chan strives for a
proactive approach to keeping his patients healthy in the new paradigm of Integrative Age Management Medicine
and Preventive Lipidology in the context of Classical Chinese Medicine that is deeply rooted in the strategic
philosophy of Sun Tzu. He dedicates his skills, knowledge, and years of experience in medicine to his patients
quest for optimum health and happiness. He addresses patients as a whole person, not just as an isolated set of
symptoms. He takes the time to listen to patients history and looks at the interactions among genetic,
environmental, and lifestyle factors that can affect long-term health and cause complex, chronic disorders. Every
year he will perform a thorough integrative cardiometabolic-focused physical to establish a health baseline and
medical goals for a wellness program.
Dr. Chan holds an undergraduate degree in neural science from Brown University and a master’s degree in
physiology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. After obtaining his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree
from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Chan completed his residency in family medicine, as well
as a fellowship in occupational and environmental medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City.
Since starting his medical career in 1999, and relocating to Phoenix in 2006, Dr. Chan has had the privilege of

in their quest for a healthy active life.

Medicine into their own lives both for themselves and for the patients they will be caring for in the future.

medical schools. Dr. Dornstein is working with a start up tele-medicine wellness program to to reverse the
declining health of America’s CDL drivers and improve compliance with CDL medical requirements.
